William Scott (1913-1989) is recognised as a major artist of the post Second World War era whose work is of international significance (William Scott Foundation: Biography).
Of Scottish and Irish parents, William Scott was brought up in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh. Here, he received his first painting lessons under the tutelage of artist, Kathleen Bridle (1897-1989). Fermanagh County Museum houses one of the most important public collections of work by William Scott. The Museum collection includes works of art encompassing oils, prints, a drawing and a textile, spanning the late 1930s to the late 70s.
