Collections

Fermanagh & Omagh District Council cares for a museum collection of over 14,600 artefacts, spanning thousands of years of local heritage. These items reflect stories of local, national, and in some cases international importance, with strong connections to the Fermanagh and Omagh region. Our multi‑disciplinary collections range from prehistory to the present, offering insights into the people, places and cultures that have shaped the area. Core strengths include:

History

Archaeology, Social History, Farming and Folklife, Costume and Textiles, Numismatics, Photography and Digital Media, Archives, and Contemporary Material.

Arts

Paintings, Prints, Drawings, Sculpture, Ceramics, Metalwork, Glass and Furniture.

Beyond these core areas, we also care for:

  • Books and publications that support research and interpretation
  • Education handling collections used in learning programmes and outreach activities

Our collections have developed through the generosity of individuals, the Friends of Fermanagh County Museum and with assistance from funding bodies.  Thank you!

To find out more about what and why we collect, as well as how we look after our collections, please look at our Collections Management Framework in the link below.
